Adult bed wetting affects between 1-2% of the entire population and it is not a matter to be taken lightly. Adults who regularly have bed wetting incidents at night are often suffering from some sort of underlying medical malady which could probably get worse if not treated properly.

Some causes for adult nocturnal enuresis are more serious such as some sort of internal injury or even bladder cancer. There are many possible causes and treatments for this condition, ranging from biological to mental conditions. Other causes for adult nocturnal enuresis are more common than others, including having a urinary tract infection or stress.

Diabetes affects the way in which your body needs to take in liquid and that increase in liquid consumption obviously comes with the need to urinate more. One possible cause of sudden adult bedwetting is complications from diabetes. There are many subtle symptoms of diabetes, but wetting the bed in adulthood is one of them.

Men are almost twice as likely to have issues with adult nocturnal enuresis as women. For men who wet the bed during sleep, they may want to first rule out prostate gland problems. The prostate gland in men can sometimes increase in size and begin to push up against the bladder.
