Alternative Health Products - The Safe Road To Health Restoration

By Richard Ealom

I see an acupuncturist for my healthcare. Contrary to common belief, acupuncturists do not simply place needles into your body. A goodly number are well-rounded practitioners of alternative health. When I am not feeling healthy and my body is out of whack, my acupuncturists gives me alternative health products such as dietary supplements and natural remedies to rebuild my immune system.

For almost all prescription medicines on the market today you can discover alternative health products that achieve the same or similar purpose. Herbs like St. Johns wort may well help to relieve depression. Ginger is impressive for digestive troubles, as are a group of digestive enzymes. Amino acid supplements seem to be good for total health and illness avoidance. My acupuncturist gives me supplements that mix a number of ingredients, most of which I've never heard of and can not pronounce.

A few, but not all, alternative health products have undergone technical research on their usefulness and side effects. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supports such examinations and makes it accessible to the community. Their website is a vast source of information on the theme. You can search for a distinct alternative health product or substance and uncover what scientists know about it.

But NCCAM is not the only place where you can locate information on the benefits of nutritional supplements and other natural remedies. Numerous online retailers supply their readers with wide-ranging information on products as well as newsletters to keep up with the most up-to-date developments in the alternative health world. A few of the high quality sites even have medical physicians available to answer questions.

Online retailers have something else to offer: discounts on vitamins, herbs, supplements, and natural treatments. This is valuable because, unlike prescription medicines, health insurance does not include alternative health products. Although they can be less costly than some prescription drugs and equally or more efficient, insurance policies do not reimburse for them. That is why retailers who offer supplements at a price cut are providing a valuable assistance to their clients.

If you are considering a different approach to your health issues, it is important to discuss it with your health care provider. More and more medical professionals are knowledgeable about and supportive of alternative approaches. They may have important insights and suggestions to contribute to your care. Such as, they may be knowledgeable about, or be able to find out, if it is dangerous to take a specific herb or vitamin alongside a medication you are taking. It is especially imperative to confer with your health provider if you are already under treatment for an ailment or medical condition.

So, if you are dedicated to exploring alternative health products to address certain health concerns or improve your general health and wellbeing, you have a number of options for locating information and affordable products.

Unlike 20 years ago, when such information was sparse and tough to find, there is a lot of information out there. A quickly rising number of consumers and medical providers are confident of the usefulness of many of the alternative products on the market. If you are interested, you will have no trouble learning what you need to know. - 29887

How Hidden Psychological Trigger Helps You Easily Lose Weight

By Dorthy Weatherbush

You are fat. Chubby, chunky, husky, robust, rotund, plump, portly, large, stout, stubby, blubbery, flabby: fat. Look in the mirror, at your pants size, on the scale. Perhaps it crept up on you one fast food lunch at a time. Maybe you've always been heavy. Either way, you've decided; today is your day. Your road to skinny starts now.

But how? There are of course the usual answers. Diet, exercise, and eating right. Of course, you respond. I knew you were going to say that. Everyone knows that, it is obvious. But really, how? What diet, which exercise? What if you don't succeed? Well, you'll just be fat, the way you are now.

The hardest part on the journey to weight loss will not be in the gym. Sweating will not be what brings you down. Your downfall will come very slowly. You start off excited and energetic, and then the doubt will set in. Or maybe the worry, or the time constraints. What can you do to deal with all of these things? What is the miracle key to finally dropping the weight that is holding you down for so long? The answer is easy. The highway to thin just got a little less hard.

The single most important factor to ensuring a successful weight loss is this: determine your why. Why do you want to lose the weight? Of course you want to be healthy or look attractive, but what truly guides your desire. Think deeply: envision yourself thin. What are you doing, where are you going, what are you wearing? This is your answer. Write it down. Flesh it out until it is exactly, precisely the moment you are working toward.

If you want to be healthy, feel attractive, and keep up with your kids, your why might be "to play tag wearing short shorts in the park." Make it as real as it is going to be. Put it down on paper. Give yourself ten good whys. Now you have them and they are cement. Use these as little reminders to self that will keep you motivated to keep going on. Is it a vacation you are after?

A photo of the tiny seats on European public transportation will be a good reminder for you to stay on you treadmill. A JCPenny's catalog in the take out menu drawer will magically remind you to eat a salad. Your weight loss journey and the motivation it takes to succeed are very personal, but your 'whys' shouldn't be. Tell you 'whys' to the people closest to you. Sharing your goals will help to hold you accountable and help you to succeed.

Whatever the 'whys' may be that you choose, your answer lies inside yourself. The reasons why you want to lose weight will be the driving forces behind your journey, and everything else that you do in your life. Your 'why' will wake you up in the morning and drag you to that treadmill, it will keep you from that drive through line at McDonald's. Armed with your own personal secret weapon, you can make your weight loss dream a reality. - 29887

By Patricia Millner

Diabetes is often a preventable disease and one which can be be survived, but that survival rate largely depends upon proper diagnosis and treatment. When a person has diabetes his or her body has a difficult time producing enough insulin. Insulin is a critical chemical in the body which helps turn sugar and starches into energy the human body can use. The symptoms of diabetes can be subtle at first.

Since your body isn't getting the full effect of the food you're digesting, your body may feel as though it needs more. Since your kidneys are working hard and trying to eliminate extra sugar through urination, you're losing a lot of liquid and may feel as though you have to keep drinking to replenish your body's water.

Increased Urination: Because your body working overtime to remove sugar from its system, you may find yourself urinating more. As your thirst increases you'll find yourself drinking more liquid, which only means you'll have to urinate sooner rather than later. Many adult bedwetters may really only have an undiagnosed case diabetes which can be treated.

Increased Fatigue: There are a number of reasons you may feel unusually fatigued, but the extra work your body is spending just to process sugar may be one of them. Since diabetes limits your ability to turn sugar and starches into energy it means your body is not able to use food to its fullest advantage.

By Richard Ealom

A home remedy is fundamentally everything you can utilize at home that does not require a prescription. You in all likelihood have some of the ingredients in your cupboards at this very moment:

make use of it in place of talcum powder to neutralize body or foot odors.

MUSTARD

add it to a hot footbath to diminish a headache.

TEA BAGS

Some, like arnica cream, are sold in health-food stores whereas others such as chamomile tea are sold in grocery stores.

In todays medical practice, established healing techniques are occasionally neglected however, by and large, they have not been forgotten. Physiotherapists employ the identical hot and cold remedies that were popular among Native American tribes - remedies that routinely work better than prescription medicine but with no side effects.

A cut from a kitchen knife may perhaps mend sooner when you apply antibacterial salve. But did you know that applying it with honey does the identical thing and works even more quickly?

Molly Hopkins, a 60 year-old landscaper, discovered first-hand that alternative remedies can work better than prescribed pills. 'I used to get sinus infections when ever I caught a cold and then I had to take antibiotics,' she says. An acquaintance, who is a family MD, told her to commence taking echinacea at the first notice of sniffles. 'I have not had a severe cold ever since that time - and no sinus infections at all'.

Nearly all of us employ conventional cures for minor aches and pains, but doctors at top research institutions are beginning to understand that they can also help out with critical health problems. Take diabetes, for example, hundreds of millions of people have to to receive injections every day or oral drugs to keep their blood sugar levels steady. But those who eat a clove of garlic daily, may be able to drop their blood sugar naturally, and with it, their doses of medication.

Depression is another condition that routinely requires medicine, but studies prove that the herb Saint Johns Wort could be as valuable as drugs for minor to moderate cases. Several of the most widely held home remedies, such as yogurt for fungal infections or chamomile tea for insomnia, have been used for generations. Others, what you might dub -future traditions- that will be passed on to our children and grandchildren - are being developed all the time.

* Creams having the herb arnica, assist bruises to heal sooner and with a reduced amount of pain since they contain natural pain killing and anti-inflammatory compounds.

* A mixture of honey and yogurt produces a natural bleach that can help to lighten the brown liver spots that frequently show on the backs of our hands as we become old.

* Researchers at a USA childrens hospital recently found that duct tape, that do-it-all family standby, can make warts go away in only a few days.

Dont you feel that it is time that you discovered the potential of natural home cures, and just why they are enjoying such a rise in recognition these day? - 29887

What You Have to Know About Juvenile Diabetes

By Kim Allarie

Juvenile diabetes is also known as Type 1 diabetes. Due to the fact that it used to show up most often in childhood and adolescence, juvenile diabetes is what it's more normally called. Because many adults are now being diagnosed with this condition, it is more appropriate to call it Type 1 diabetes, as opposed to juvenile diabetes.

Diabetes is the condition that takes place when the body is unable to process sugar or glucose in the bloodstream, causing levels of blood sugar to rise to hazardous heights. This is because of the pancreas no long making insulin. Therefore, a large amount of glucose is in the blood, and this excess can cause a variety of illnesses. It is a medical condition that's developing in more and more people every day. It's felt that approximately 30,000 people in the US are diagnosed with diabetes annually. There are more than 120 million persons who have been diagnosed with diabetes globally.

Juvenile diabetes is considered a chronic condition, and is becoming increasingly prevalent. This is the outcome when the body does not deal adequately with the sugar that is within the bloodstream. Blood sugar levels that are not adequately kept under control may result in difficulties as your body tries to deal with converting the sugar. This results in the inability of your body's cells to absorb the glucose, so it stays in the blood stream. Most often, anybody who suffers from juvenile diabetes will have to endure insulin injections over his or her lifetime so that the blood sugar can be broken down.

Juvenile diabetes research has demonstrated that the condition is classed as an autoimmune disease, meaning that the body turns on itself. Although we have yet to understand why, the immune system begins to attack the things that are meant to serve as protection. In diabetics, it is the cells in the pancreas that manufacture insulin which create the problem.

You ought to know what the symptoms of juvenile diabetes are so that you'll know to watch for them. If left untreated, this disease is very dangerous; immediate diagnosis and treatment is crucial. Common symptoms are habitual urination and always being thirsty. These are signs of not only juvenile diabetes, but also Type 2 diabetes which is usually referred to as adult onset diabetes.

Getting rid of sugar from your diet is a part of how juvenile diabetes must be dealt with. You'll also have to make other changes to your eating habits and overall lifestyle in order to treat diabetes.

There is much ongoing research trying to find a cure for juvenile diabetes. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is an organization that is leading the way in this undertaking. Its mandate also encompasses assistance to diabetic individuals to learn to manage their disease. Also, JDRF ensures that research continues by raising money. - 29887

Although government-run health insurance is usually available for citizens of many countries, the same privilege is not usually afforded those who are just visiting from another country. Natural Alternative Sugar Substitute That Is Healthy

By Esther George

A lot of the info out there currently points to the fact that products claiming to be natural sweeteners are not natural or even better sugar substitute to processed sugar. They are artificial products made with chemicals that potentially have negative side effects some of which are known and a lot of which are still unknown.

A Sugar substitute is defined as any other type of sweetener that is not just 100% sugar. It can be a combination of sugar with other products either natural or artificial to create an end product that is a substitute to sugar.

There is a lot of confusion regarding sugar alternatives especially, with the use of the word natural in labels. A natural sweetener means free from preservatives and or additives. This should be the case however many sugar substitutes out there that claim to be natural are not really due to the presence of other artificial content.

When concerned about your health and well-being it is important to understand the meaning of what is called a natural sweetener when looking for a sugar substitute. Artificial sweeteners pose some sort of health concerns due to the side effects which are prevalent.

Artificial sweeteners are made from chemicals and like every chemical or drug ejected into the body there are side effects. Some side effects include cancer that has been discovered in animal lab studies. Weight gain is another side effect instead of weight loss which, is contrary to why someone might seek a sugar substitute in the first place.

There is a better choice in a sugar substitute. That smarter choice is to pick a natural sweetener that really is healthy and has been proved to be healthy. This natural choice is honey. You will find honey is both liquid and crystal form. Either form is a hundred percent natural. It may be employed in all the same ways you would use regular sugar or a substitute.

Another perk of honey as a sweetener is that it tastes good. Many synthetic sweeteners have a bad after taste and they really do not compare to sugar. Honey, on the other hand, tastes good. In fact, honey compares quite nicely to sugar. It can be employed in baking, it has a pleasing taste and it is easy to use.

When choosing a sugar substitute you have to think smart. There's a lot that's still unknown about artificial sweeteners, which is quite scary, considering the latest concerns to become obvious. If you really do not want to include sugar in your diet, then the best natural sweetener to use as an alternative is honey. You get something that you know is safe and that you know will taste great. - 29887

Why Natural Sweeteners Such As Organic Sugar Are Best For You

By Esther George

Sugar is deceptive. It is sweet but deadly. The typical American diet is packed with sugar today and there is an epidemic of obesity and diabetes to show for it. Refined sugar is nothing more than empty calories that have no nutritional value like natural sweeteners do. Even worse, refined sugar increases insulin production, which leads to the development of diabetes.

Instead of poisoning yourself with refined sugar, use Natural Sweeteners to achieve the same great taste without any of the negative effects. For example, honey is one of the Natural Sweeteners that tastes great and is actually good for you. The only problem with honey is that it is thick and sticky and it would not dissolve in cold drinks and it is hard to spread on things like cereal.

But there are new products out now that make Natural Sweeteners like honey much more convenient. Honey now comes in honey crystals that are dried, sweet flakes of honey that you can shake out on just about anything you want to sweeten. They dissolve easily in iced tea and coffee and they are perfect for sprinkling on cereal.

You can dramatically reduce the amount of sugar your family consumes by buying unsweetened foods and flavoring them yourself at home with natural sweeteners. Rather than buying those sugar coated cereal flakes for your kids, buy the healthier non-sweetened variety and let your kids add their own honey flakes. Buy unsweetened tea and add your healthy natural sweeteners rather than buying store brands that are loaded with sugar, high fructose corn syrup, or chemical sweeteners.

It is almost impossible to avoid products today that contain high fructose corn syrup and white sugar. They are in nearly everything because they are so addictive and cheap. Food manufacturers sell more products because sugar addicted consumers keep lining up for more in order to get a quick fix for their sugar cravings.

Organic sugar and natural sweeteners are a better choice for your health. Organic sugar is cane sugar that has not had all of the nutrition processed out of it. Its appearance is not white and pure because it still retains the healthy parts that give it color.

Switching to organic sugar makes it easy to use natural sweeteners because it can be used in recipes just like refined sugar. You can cook and bake with it and your recipes taste just the same. It also dissolves easily in drinks. Organic sugar does not destroy your health like refined sugar does. You may not get sick right away when you eat refined sugar but the effects develop over time.

Make the switch to organic sugar and natural sweeteners. You won't notice that much of a change in taste but you may notice an improvement in your overall health. Convenient food like frozen dinners and fast food are so tempting in our fast pace world but the price you pay for that convenience is huge, it can take a real toll on your health. The solution is in your hands and you can start by using healthy natural sweeteners like honey flakes and organic sugar. - 29887

Organic Honey - The Healthy Sweetener For You

By Esther George

Organic honey is a delicious and naturally sweet way to benefit your health. It contains vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytonutrients which may help the immune system stay strong. The process to make organic honey is carefully done to keep it from being contaminated with chemicals and toxins. If the label on honey says it's certified organic then it doesn't have any traces of things that are harmful. The USDA regulations are very strict about this.

Essentially, it all starts with the bee keepers who produce organic honey, in that they need to follow certain standards. In fact, even the natural habitat of the bees being used is protected so that the bees don't become exposed to any form of chemicals or antibiotics which are sometimes use to control agricultural diseases. The main reason why organic honey is known to be so good for you is that it doesn't contain any artificial ingredients.

Interestingly enough, there have been several scientific studies carried out which have proved that organic honey is beneficial to your health. For example, it's known to help certain stomach related conditions such as ulcers. Furthermore, enzymes found in the honey are known to help aid food digestion. Honey has also been used for centuries to treat bronchitis, sore throats, and even common colds. Perhaps one of the most noticeable qualities of honey is that because of its antibacterial and antifungal qualities, it is capable of reducing inflammation and speeding up the healing of wounds.

Furthermore, because honey as a low PH and high sugar content, it's highly effective at preventing the growth of bacteria on wounds. In fact, honey is in some ways similar to hydrogen peroxide, in that they both have a similar antiseptic action. Honey has also been used for hundreds of years already in order to treat burns, in that it helps to reduce the pain by keeping the burn moist. It also tends to form a skin/seal over the burn, thus helping to prevent infections. It is also believed that when honey is used to treat burns, the resultant scars will not be as noticeable as they would be, had the burn been treated with something else instead.

It simply cannot be denied that the vast majority of people believe organic honey tastes far better than honey which has additives. Either way, organic honey is certainly easier for your stomach to digest, not to mention the fact that it contains beneficial bacteria as well. Honey is also a fantastic source of energy due to glucose and fructose, both of which result in glycogen being stored in your liver and muscles, thus resulting in an increase in energy levels. Studies also suggest that organic honey can help to boost the immune system due to the fact that it contains antioxidants.

One great thing about organic honey is that you can now buy it in crystal form. Of course this means that you can benefit from this natural wonder without having to worry about stickiness. Organic honey crystals are made by using pure organic honey and organic cane juice. The crystals contain absolutely no additives at all, so of course they are perfect for adding to a number of different recipes. You can also add organic honey crystals to your tea and coffee, and even to breads, puddings, cereals, and smoothies. - 29887

Natural Sugar Alternatives That Are Good For You

By Esther George

As concern grows regarding diabetes and obesity in the population, many consumers have begun shopping for sugar alternatives, both for a healthier lifestyle and dietary changes. Everyone enjoys the sweet taste of sugar, but the refined white sugar found in most of our foods is not a healthy option. While refined sugars are not the best option health-wise, there are sugar alternatives that allow you to still eat the foods you love.

Natural sugar for one is a much better choice than refined white sugar. Natural sugar can benefit your body in small amounts as it provides easy to digest energy. As long as you do not eat too much at which point your body will store the excess as fat. And that is what we are all trying to avoid.

There are other sugar alternatives available as well, and some of them are better for you than others. First there are the artificial sweeteners like saccharine. This can be found in the Sweet and Low packets on the table in just about every restaurant in the country. This artificial sugar alternative is very sweet so you use a lot less to get the same level of sweetness than you would need with real sugar.

The problem with these sugar alternatives is that they may not be very good for you. Some people think that they cause cancer, but this has not been proven in any scientific studies yet. More importantly, they encourage your body to want more sugar, so they do not help you to eat healthier and avoid sugar at other times. Also, since they are tricking your body into thinking it is getting sugar, it stores the empty calories as fat, so the effects are just the same.

Artificial sugar alternatives are not generally good for cooking with. While they may work for sweetening tea and coffee, they often get a chemical taste during cooking. This is why most homes will have refined sugar in the pantry, even when artificial sweeteners are used.

But there are other natural sugar alternatives that you can use that are great for baking and all your other sweetener needs. Honey is one good choice. It is all natural and good for you in moderation, of course. It is great for baking and as an added bonus it thickens things up as well.

Honey is also a good option for coffee or tea. You can get honey crystals that have been dried, making them easy to use. These honey crystals are perfect to use in beverages or over cereal.

Another great choice is Agave. Also derived from a plant, it is a concentrated liquid sweetener. It usually comes in smaller bottles because it is sweet enough you only need a few drops to replace spoonfuls of sugar!

With all the natural sugar alternatives out there, make sure you do your research well. Natural sugar alternatives like Honey Crystals offer the additional benefit of being dry and easy to use. It replaces sugar 1:1 and is great for keeping your weight in check and your health in shape. - 29887

Who Is At Risk Of Developing Diabetes?

By Kathy Forcey

Diabetes can creep up on us as we get older without us even realizing it. So it is important to know what the type 2 diabetes symptoms are, especially if you are in one of the risk groups for developing this disease.

The first thing you should do is work out which of the risk factors for diabetes you have. Somethings you can't do anything about, like your family genes for example, but there are plenty of factors that you can do something about. You just need to accept what they are and make the commitment to do something about them.

Weight is a major factor in developing type 2 diabetes, this is different from type 1 diabetics as they tend to be of normal weight or even under weight. This is why type 2 is sometimes known as adult onset diabetes, because we tend to put on weight as we become older.

Sadly this factor is something you can't affect. Your age, the older you get the higher your risk of developing many problems including diabetes. While there is nothing you can do about getting older it is just one of the factors so there is still plenty you can do to reduce your risks.

Do you have high blood pressure already? Well then you are increasing your risk for diabetes. This is another one of the illness that can be improved so much just by reducing your weight. If you are clinically obese then diabetes and hypertension together could very well be reducing your life span.

Whilst you can't do anything about your age, you can do something about your weight. Just reducing your body weight will help reduce your hypertension and the chances of you developing diabetes in later life.

Losing weight to stop you developing diabetes may sound silly but it is true and the benefits associated with losing weight and generally improving your health are huge. So while your aim may be to reduce your chances of developing diabetes you will also see a increase in your enjoyment of life. - 29887

Is Rehab The Solution To Your Problems?

By James Handforth

A rehabilitation centre is normally the final expedient for a person who has either gone through an extreme emotional shock or is suffering from any serious mental illness that causes psychiatric condition or physical pain. People who are trying to quit any form of drugs including cocaine and alcohol can also come to a rehab to get help. The basic idea behind a rehab is of a place where patients, facing a problem that does not allow them to function properly, come to rebuild their confidence and capabilities to overcome their weaknesses.

WHO recently conducted a survey and according to the results about six hundred and fifty million people all over the world are disabled in some way, and unfortunately, only a small fraction of these people can attain the services of a rehab. Most of the rehabs have a standard working pattern. They facilitate the patients with both physical and occupational therapies in combination with proper medication and extreme medical care. The environment results in the patient recovering slowly but for a very long time.

All humans face different kinds of physical, emotional and even psychological problems, and mostly they overcome these problems through positive behaviour and conditions around them. Everyone would require the support of their loved ones in case they are being subjected to such issues, but if the problem gets out of hand, the patient will have to come to a rehab for treatment. Getting to this stage can be a result of many different causes.

These causes can include chronic illness, physical disability, a more recent health issue like a stroke, or one more related to the mind like, problems in relationships or at work. These factors can become so big that one is left with no other choice but to go to a rehab. A broken marriage or the death of someone who is greatly loved is the kind of issue that can offset the mind in such a way that normal medication and counselling may remain insufficient. This directly affects the ability of a person to live a normal life, and leads to a proper therapy in a rehab.

Usage of any kind of drugs is harmful, both mentally and physically, and it affects the professional as well as personal life of a person, and can also result in a major trauma. Accidents and disasters can change the mental balance of a person and can even bring a physical injury.

Any form of major accidents can cause an imbalance in the mental and physical capabilities of a person.

A patient normally recovers slowly in a rehab, but the important thing is that he/she is being treated not just for one problem but every issue possible, and ultimately he regains all the lost strength. - 29887

The Perfect Thirst Quencher" Editorial by Windy City Magazine

By George Napoli

"Quench thirst with water." That's what Time-Out Windy City Magazine reports in their 7-23-29 magazine. They state that "71% of consumers report water is your favorite summer time thirst beverage." When it comes to the perfect thirst quencher, water is the right choice.

To satisfy your thirst, there is no alternative to water. But just like the 2nd piece of cake isn't as good as the 1st, neither is the second glass of H2O. After some time, drinking right levels of H2O is easier said than done. Drinking the right levels of H2O is important to both quench your thirst and keeping you properly hydrated.

Trouble is, water gets boring and sometimes you have no desire for plain water and typically reach for high caloric beverages like juices and soda. Other times you may reach for coffee and tea that actually dehydrate you. Even though they both are made with water, coffee and tea provides us with no hydration benefits.

There has been no real options for these high calorie drinks nor are there effective products that really help promote hydration. Mixing your own flavored waters is 1 possible option. Using fresh fruits and natural fruit concentrates in tap water is 1 certainly a way to avoid drinks with calories while making water taste good.

Buying bottled flavored water is another viable solution. There are a lot of bottled flavored waters in the market. Look for products that taste great, pricing that doesn't break the bank and most importantly, find flavored water with 0 calories, or at least smallest amounts possible. Otherwise it may properly hydrate you but it may add extra calories and pounds to your diet.

Flavored H2O without calories is becoming a popular inexpensive solution to high caloric beverages. Here are some of the better reasons we consume flavored H2O. We drink it as an everyday treat that is quickly growing as a favorite choice for us.

Drinking water at required levels is difficult and flavored waters makes drinking plain water easier and more fun to do. Sodas, teas and coffee dehydrate us even though they are made with water. Flavored water is a healthy alternative for health smart people.

Also we drink water with flavoring for general refreshment, over sugary choices and to get a feeling of something substantial. Flavored water tops ordinary bottled water when it comes to good tastes. Flavored water also helps to eliminate cravings for sweets and sugars.

Flavored water thrives in the soft drink market where consumers are looking for innovative products at a value. Search for the bottled flavor water in your supermarket. Natural flavor concentrates are also available online, have 0 calories and let you blend your own perfect thirst quencher, for pennies a serving.

The more you like the taste of water, the more water you will drink and that is great for your health. It's as simple as that! When it comes to diets, flavored water with 0 calories makes the "perfect diet drink" and is certainly a way to enhance the "perfect thirst quencher."

In another look at the reasons we drink flavored water, keep this one item in mind. By enhancing the flavor of water and making it taste better, the second piece of cake may be just as good as the first. And, in this case, the more cake you consume, the better it is for your body: the bodies cells, your brain, metabolism and blood stream. Please gives me a third piece! - 29887

Surprising Finding! Better Sleep with Gene-Eden, a Natural Antiviral

By Leann Verner

In a recent study, polyDNA interviewed people who were taking the antiviral supplement Gene-Eden for a few weeks. The objective was to collect data about their physical reactions to the supplement. The result of analysis was surprising. It showed that the participants were experiencing better, more refreshing sleep, compared to the time prior to taking the supplement.

Antiviral and better sleep?

Although mostly unknown by the general public, many recent studies showed that an infection with a chronic virus can cause sleeping problems, and that antiviral medications can solve these problems. For instance, a study conducted by Professor Jose G. Montoya and a team of scientists from the School of Medicine at Stanford University, demonstrated the effectiveness of the antiviral drug valganciclovir. In the study, the scientists gave the drug to participants with both sleeping problems and a high concentration of chronic viruses. The results showed that after taking the drug, 75% of the participants experienced much better sleep.

How is Gene-Eden related to these studies?

Gene-Eden is an all natural, broad range, antiviral dietary supplement that targets many of the most common viruses during their latent or chronic phase. Some of these viruses include the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), Herpes Simplex virus (HSV), Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Varicella Zoster virus (VZV), Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV).

The Gene-Eden formulation includes five natural ingredients. To identify these ingredients, the scientists at polyDNA used a unique process. First, they collected thousands of scientific papers. Then, they analyzed the content of these papers with their in-house, proprietary bio-informatics program. Finally, they used the results of the computer analysis to select the five most powerful, yet safe antiviral ingredients.

Would you like to read some of the scientific papers that show the strong antiviral effect of the five ingredients? Visit the Gene-Eden website at http://www.gene-eden.com.

Also, as would be expected from the rigorous process used by the scientists at polyDNA, users of Gene-Eden report significant improvements in their health.

How is Gene-Eden different from sleeping pills like Ambien or dietary supplements like melatonin?

The Consumer Reports website writes that "Most sleep drugs are supposed to be taken for no longer than two weeks or so, and continued use could lead to serious side effects or dependency; "rebound" insomnia, in which sleeplessness returns and might actually worsen; memory lapses; and hallucinations."

What is the reason for the side effects? The new chemistry in the brain. Sleeping drugs change the chemistry in the user's brain. They create an artificial chemistry that forces the brain to sleep. However, this artificial chemistry is artificial. It is very different from the chemistry typical of a naturally sleeping brain. This artificial chemistry is responsible for the serious side effects.

Moreover, the brain is a fast learner. When the brain sees that the new artificial chemistry is the standard chemistry night after night, it adopts. After a short period of time, the brain can no longer fall asleep without the pill. The brain became dependent on the pill.

In contrast to these artificial sleeping aids, Gene-Eden targets the chronic viruses in the body that cause the sleeping problems. Gene-Eden does not create an artificial chemistry. It recreates the more natural, healthy internal environment, typical of people with little or no chronic viruses, people who experience uninterrupted, refreshing sleep.

Interested in more information about Gene-Eden and sleep? See the "About Sleep" web page at http://www.gene-eden.com/sleep.htm. Would you like to know about other risks associates with chronic viruses? Visit the fascinating web page on the Gene-Eden website that explains, in simple terms, the highly acclaimed scientific discovery by Dr. Hanan Polansky. The discovery shows how chronic viruses can cause major diseases such as heart disease, arthritis, asthma, cancer, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, or even accelerated aging. Easy And Free Weight Loss At Home

By Ron Cripps

You have landed that dream job interview and now you need to wear that old dress or suit but realize it does not fit you need to take action and lose weight fast. Reducing weight too suddenly is not healthy and could harm your body. Such things as a loss of muscle tone or worse yet heart disease and problems with other internal organs can result from fad diets, miracle pills and extreme fasting. Here are some tips to safely shed that weight fast from home.

Since losing weight is in basic terms expending more calories than you take in, figure out exactly what you take in. Keep a written record of every meal, for at least a week. That means everything, every morsel you consume, every sample, every drink of water. Now with the help of sources like mypyramidtracker.gov figure out the calories in what you eat.

Once you have a list of all the calories you eat, look for ways to reduce them. This can be as uncomplicated as reducing down on meal portion sizes. Serve sizes are generally too big both at home and in restaurants. There are a lot of other simple tactics that don't significantly modify what you eat. Soda and juice, cake, cookies, butter, lose them all from your diet. Salad dressing is the prime source of calories on most dinner tables! Getting used to the delicious taste of a salad with a pinch of lemon juice makes a substantial difference. Also note that empty calories such as sugars and white breads (carbohydrates) are the first things to restrict. These can be replaced with sugar substitutes and whole grain breads without to much impact to you.

What about that side dish? This portion of the meal often holds more calories than the main course. Make a switch to healthy foods, or get rid of the sides completely.

Build up some muscle to increase muscle mass and metabolism using exercise. That leads to burning extra calories even when sitting still. Aerobic exercise is the best for calorie and fat burning. Many experts say to do aerobic activity for 30 minutes a day 3-5 days a week. Hog wash! Find an activity you can sustain for seven days each week, and forever and one that you enjoy..

There's the plan to lose weight fast. Now get moving! - 29887

Black Tea Benefits - Lower Plasma Sugar Levels

By Kirsten Whittaker

When next you have the chance to drink black tea - Forget the 5,000 years of use in Asia and consider instead about the multiple health benefits the Black Tea might bring to your body, which now include reduced blood sugar levels.

You have most likely heard about how black tea improves immunity and heart health, now studies appearing in the June 30, 2009 issue of the journal of Food Science, adds diabetes treatment to the list of infirmities where a cup of dark tea ( without milk or sugar ) could be just what you want.

The up to date work out of Tianjin school in China found that black tea contains a compound that works just like oral medicines Precose and Glyset - prescription drugs currently used to manipulate blood sugar levels for patients with type 2 diabetes.

The naturally occurring polysaccharide compound in black tea is at levels greater than in either green or oolong tea.

Haixia Chen and colleagues report that the polysaccharides discovered in black tea restrict the activity of an enzyme known as alpha-glucosidase that transforms starches to sugar.

This is the way the prescription drugs work also.

Research has shown for a while that polysaccharides might be of value to those with diabetes because they help stop the assimilation of sugar. According to the researchers, the black spread or tea was also found to possess the best scavenging effect on free radicals, those stressful substances assumed by many to be concerned in the development of cancer and other illnesses.

So can you drink black tea in the place of an oral diabetic medication?

No - Never make a change like this in your treatment without talking with your own doctor.

Chen's team must not say for sure that just drinking the tea would be adequate. The study used chemical extraction methods, not the brewing as you might at home, to get the polysaccharides from the teas they'd purchased at local markets.

Traditional teas come from the same plant. It's essentially the amount of processing that makes the difference in the color, the black having oxidized ( interacted with oxygen till the leaves darkened ) as it goes thru all of the steps in the tea making process. Conventional processing of the black variety is not anything like fermenting, there isn't any yeast concerned, just the tea leaves and oxygen.

It is important to know that due to the way black tea is manufactured, it does have a much higher caffeine content than the other teas - green, white or oolong. One cup of black tea has about fifty mg of caffeine when compared to coffee, which has from sixty five to 175 milligrams of caffeine per cup.

Actually, in several parts of the Earth tea, not coffee is employed as the wake-me-up at the beginning of the day.

You should buy teas at most grocery stores, or try the organic types from online ( or local ) natural health food stores.

Black varieties can be packaged as a single tea or as a part of a blend - you will be amazed at the various selections. You'll be wanting to try several brands to find the flavour and depth of color you like best, and be certain to brew the leaves lose in a pleasant, pot-bellied teapot so they can unfurl all of the way to form a drink that is's robust and delicious, and highly likely good for you too!

The black tea benefits are definitely galvanizing, and with this research we could be close to another discovery for regulating blood sugar levels. - 29887

Possible Methods Of Reversing Diabetes

By Jason Myers

When it comes to diabetes there has been one subject that has been getting much attention lately diabetes reversal. Now, although the cure for the disease is not yet available, many think that through diet and proper exercise regimen you can, in a way, reverse the disease.

Since diabetes reversal doesn't rely on drugs or medications for its success there are still those, mainly pharmaceutical companies, which believe that the only means to successfully handle this disease is through insulin.

While it's not an overnight cure, it is a tested procedure and I will show you several means you can reverse your diabetes.

If you are reviewing this you are probably conscious that the number of individuals being diagnosed with diabetes is hitting epidemic proportions. In the US nearly 1 in 10 people have been diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The figures are staggering and based on many factors, poor diet and lack of exercise among the chief perpetrators.

Here are some means you can immediately begin to change your life and, within a matter of weeks, see some amazing results:

1: Water is our body's principal chemical component, comprising, around, 60 percent of our body weight. Each system in our body depends on water. For example, water boots out toxins out of vital organs and transports nutrients to our cells. Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that takes place when you have insufficient water level in your body to fulfill normal routines. Even mild dehydration can reduce your energy and make you tired. A good rule to follow when wondering how much fluid you should take in is the 8 x 8 rule ... 8 glasses at 8 ounces, or about 1.9 liters each day.

2: Switch your diet immediately; get rid of sugars and carbohydrates rich in sugar content.

3: Eat plenty of foods that are rich in proteins (meats, dairy, nuts, seafood and soy ) as they are responsible for cell repair. Diabetes damages cells and if you repair your cells they should begin to process insulin again. A diet high in protein is good for you but even better if you are battling diabetes.

As I brought up early, diabetes reversal is not an overnight affair, however, if you diligently follow the suggestions above you will see a significant change in the amount of insulin you will be taking. - 29887

Is There an Atkins Grapefruit Diet?

By Frank Williams

The Atkins Grapefruit diet is a diet plan, not endorsed by the eponymous Dr. Atkins company, that hopes to play on the popularity of the grapefruit diet and the Atkins diet name. However, a closer look at this diet shows that it may not be all it claims for itself.

First of all, it's very difficult to any find information on the Atkins grapefruit diet plan at all. Clever people know that when someone is perpetrating a deception, or a con, they will usually gloss over the facts. This is what the Atkins grapefruit diet seems to be doing in an attempt to get people to associate it with two supposedly effective diets.

Is the Atkins Grapefruit Diet part of the Atkins Diet or support by the late Dr. Atkins' company? The answer is a resounding no, not only is there no mention of the Atkins Grapefruit Diet on the Atkins web site, but there is no fruit of any kind allowed in the list of allowed foods in the Atkins diet Induction phase either.

The induction phase includes the following foods: fish of all kinds, all fowl such as turkey and chicken, any shellfish, any meat such as beef or pork, eggs cooked in any style including fried, cheese, vegetables, herbs and spices, fats and oils, low carbohydrate beverages including diet soft drinks.

Please, notice one thing - that fruit does not feature on that list at all! Yes, later phases of the Atkins diet do allow small amounts of fruits such as cantaloupe and lemon juice, and the pre-maintenance and maintenance phases do even allow small quantities of grapefruit, but when judged in comparison with the amount of Grapefruit advised on the Atkins Grapefruit Diet there is a huge difference.

The Atkins Grapefruit Diet recommends a cup of grapefruit juice or a cup of grapefruit sections, with 8 and 18 carbs respectively. Even the most liberal phases of the Atkins diet suggests restricting consumption to below 8 carbs per day, when it comes to grapefruit. That's a direct contradiction of one diet to the other.

Most reasonable people would turn to the Atkins website itself the moment they heard of the Atkins Grapefruit Diet and when they found no reference of that diet on their site, a red light would flash and an alarmbell would sound.

In general, please remember this: any diet that relies very heavily on one kind of food, such as grapefruit on a grapefruit diet, is not healthy for any but very short periods. The Atkins Grapefruit Diet is not associated with the Atkins diet, and may disrupt the results of the Atkins diet, especially in its early phases. - 29887

Gene-Eden: Antiviral Supplement that Targets Chronic Viruses that Cause Cancer

By Rachel Mikel

The immune system is powerful, yet delicate. Many events outside or inside our body can damage it. For instance, are you stressed? Are you taking medications to lower your cholesterol or blood pressures, or to control other long term conditions? Do you use your cell phone extensively? Do you live or work next to a cell phone antenna? Did you pass the age of 40? Stress, medications, radiation (UV, x-Ray, cell phone, etc), and aging damage your immune system.

Why is and efficient immune system important to your health? Since, among other things, it controls the number of chronic viruses that reside in your body. A few of the most common viruses that infect almost everyone, and stay with us for life, are the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), Herpes Simplex virus (HSV), Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Varicella Zoster virus (VZV), Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV).

And if the immune system is weak, what then? The chronic viruses that reside in your body celebrate. They multiply and cause major diseases, such as heart disease, arthritis, asthma, cancer, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, or even accelerated aging. (You can read about the scientific research that links chronic viruses and these diseases at http://www.gene-eden.com/Gene-Eden.htm.)

How do the common viruses cause these diseases? And is there a way to protect against them?

To answer these questions, we will concentrate on one disease: cancer. Scientists believe that cancer, and many other diseases, start with a genetic mutation. For instance take breast cancer and the BRCA1 gene. This gene manufactures a protein that stops the cell from replicating, and of course, prevents it from turning into a tumor. In contrast to the scientists? beliefs, many studies showed that only 5% of the breast cancer patients have a mutated BRCA1 gene. What about the rest? What about the 95%? What causes breast cancer in these non-mutated patients? Big mystery!

Since 2003, when Dr. Hanan Polansky published his ?purple book?, the cause of cancer in the non-mutated patients is mystery no more.

Scientists showed that all people are infected with some chronic viruses. (Curious to know which viruses reside in your body? Ask your doctor for a simple blood test, or visit the Gene-Eden website at http://www.gene-eden.com/immune.htm for further instructions.) According to Dr. Hanan Polansky, chronic viruses are genetic parasites. These viruses compete with the human genes for a scarce and important genetic resource. When they multiply, the human genes lose the competition and ?starve.? There just isn?t enough of the scarce resource for everyone. Starved human genes don?t function properly, and start to show the behavior that scientists usually see in mutated genes. Now, we all know that mutated genes cause disease. So, it is easy to see why starved genes, which behave like mutated genes, also cause disease.

BRCA1 and breast cancer are just one example. The same process holds for other genes and other diseases. For instance, when a chronic virus starves the CD18 gene, the host develops atherosclerosis, heart attacks, and stroke. When a chronic virus starves the TF gene, the infected host develops autoimmune diseases, such as juvenile diabetes, lupus, arthritis, Crohn's disease. The list of susceptible genes is long, and so is the list of the resulting diseases.

Why is Dr. Hanan Polansky?s discovery important?

It is important since it motivated the scientists at polyDNA to develop the antiviral supplement Gene-Eden, which, for the first time, targets the cause rather than the symptoms of the major diseases.

Gene-Eden is a broad range, all natural, antiviral nutritional supplement that targets viruses during their chronic or latent phase. Gene-Eden includes five ingredients. To identify these ingredients, the scientists at polyDNA scanned the scientific literature, analyzed thousands of papers using a proprietary bio-informatics computer program, and identified the most effective and safe natural ingredients. Some of the laboratory and clinical studies, which were published in scientific journals and show that these natural ingredients have a strong antiviral effect, are presented on the Gene-Eden website. Also, as expected from the science-based development process, users of the antiviral supplement report great clinical results. - 29887

Have a arrest on your total fat consumption. Also have fewer amounts of trans fatty fats and saturated fats. These fats are seen in butter, salad dressings, sweets and desserts. If you can't avoid the fat foods, replace them with monounsaturated fat or poly unsaturated fats. The monounsaturated fats are rich in olive oil and peanut oil.

It's essential to eat right amounts of varied protein foods. But the proteins of meat and dairy products may act as a cause for heart disease. So, it's better to have proteins of lean meat, fish and vegetable sources.

You must cut down your cholesterol consumption. In high-risk individuals, the dietary cholesterol can raise the blood cholesterol levels. Reducing the cholesterol use also has another advantage. Since cholesterol and saturated fats are seen in the same foods, by avoiding this, you can cut back your fat consumption.

For having energy, serve complex carbohydrates (such as whole wheat pasta, sweet potatoes, whole-grain breads) and restrict simple carbohydrates (such as regular soft drinks, sugar, sweets).
