Hazards that may open the way to diabetes

By Antoinette R. Wallace

Many people are suffering from the issue of diabetes worldwide. The health concern of diabetes can strike anyone and is not dependent on factors like gender or age. However, there are certain things that will raise your chance of suffering from diabetes manifolds. Read on to learn about these factors and in which way they may finish up in the occurrence of diabetes.

One of the most distinguished risk factors for type two diabetes is obesity. If you are fat then you are at a larger likelihood of developing diabetes. This is as fat meddles with the production of insulin in the body.Increased weight increases the insulin resistance and hence hikes the sugar levels in the body. So, it becomes vital that you take steps to keep your weight to an optimal level. Eat a well balanced diet and luxuriate in at least 30 mins of moderate physical activity everyday.

If you're leading a sedentary approach to life ; you are at higher chance of diabetes. If you are not physically active; your sugar levels of the blood go on a hike. If you are active then the case is opposite. Also it has been observed that the muscle cells are more receptive to insulin compared to the fat cells. Exercise helps to reduce the insulin resistance of the body. This thus helps to regulate the sugar levels of the blood and so bring it to a stabilized level. A sedentary lifestyle is also a major factor for the rising trend of obesity. Obesity further increases the chances of diabetes manifolds.

If you are following bad eating habits then you are more suscetible to diabetes than those who eat healthy. Eating too much of sugar will obviously raise your blood sugar levels. Aside from sugar, carbs too boost your blood sugar levels. They get digested simply and spike up the sugar levels. You have got to avoid eating fast food that are crammed with simple carbohydrates and sugar. Instead, you must try and include more of fiber in your diet.

Adding to the list of risk factors for diabetes is family history. Genetics has a big part to play when deciding whether you'll encounter the problem of diabetes or not. You are likely to battle with diabetes if your mom and pop too suffer from it. It's been observed that such congenital factors are in charge of making many Native Americans and African-Americans have diabetes.

Additionally to the above discussed reasons ; other considerations that increase the possibility of diabetes are high cholesterol levels and many others. You can not do much about preventing yourself from factors like family history. However, you still have control over other factors like that of weight and diet. It's preferable to pinch the problem in the bud. Watch out for these risk factors and take appropriate precautions so you can prevent the problem from arising at all. - 29887
