When you have type 2 diabetes, there are so many numbers to remember and none of them are your age! There are those daily blood sugar levels, three monthly HbA1c percentage... really important numbers you, as a diabetic, need to know. Most people with type 2 diabetes monitor their blood sugar level daily. The blood sugar level you are striving for is:

Generally it occurs with age. However the fact is that it is not the integral part of aging and can be treated. The individuals who are suffering from diabetes may start to experience this problem even 10 to 15 years earlier than others. Why is erectile dysfunction one of the earliest and warning signs of diabetes in men? Diabetes is connected with many disorders of nervous system. The damage to the nervous system triggers erectile dysfunction as the nerves then cannot efficiently tell your body that you are aroused. A man may be emotionally aroused but his nerves are unable to send this message to his penis that he is aroused then he will unable to achieve erection.

Diabetes is also responsible for the disorder of blood vessels. The damage to different blood vessels disturbs the flow of blood in the body. As most of us know that erection is achieved when corpora cavernosa of penis gets filled with blood. The damage to the vascular system affects erection. Erection is the result of connection and interplay of vascular system and nervous system. Depression is another warming signs of diabetes in men. Depression may be the result of imbalance of hormones and poor control of blood sugar levels. These psychological factors also play a major role in erectile dysfunction.

Doctors at the University of California, Irvine are now toying with the idea that another type of glycated molecule, glycated albumin, could be used in a new lab test to determine short-term indicators of how well diabetics are doing. The doctors reported in the November 2008 issue of the Journal of Diabetes Science & Technology that glycated albumin has a definite relationship to diabetic complications such as kidney damage and coronary artery disease.

Pregnant women who have this disorder are put on a balanced diet without sugar. In addition, they have to exercise 3 to 4 times in a week to get rid of the excess weight they are carrying. Also, their diet will consist more of vegetables and fruits along with poultry and fish. Women have to achieve normal pregnancy weight during the course of their pregnancy in order to control the disease.

If gestational diabetes is not treated or controlled, it can be dangerous for the baby. The baby can get jaundice, respiratory distress syndrome, die after 28 weeks of pregnancy or die after birth as it will suffer from hypoglycemia after birth. - 29887
